Water Aerobics

Session 1 Registration Open for Summer!

This low impact class is designed for students who want to maintain or improve their cardio fitness while strengthening all the major muscle groups. Burning calories, stress release and improved flexibility and range of motion are added benefits.  The instructor will provide modifications suitable for all fitness levels. Each class session incorporates both shallow and deep water exercises.

Introducing HIIT! the Water Aerobics – Friday Mornings 9:45AM – 10:45AM

Unleash your potential and make a splash with HIIT the Water Aerobics! Experience a comprehensive workout that takes your cardio fitness and muscle strength to new heights. We kick-start the class with 30 minutes of energizing dry land exercise to warm up your body and prepare you for an incredible aquatic workout. Engage in high-intensity interval training (HIIT) water aerobics routines that improve your endurance and maximize calorie burn. Sign up now and dive into the ultimate aquatic fitness adventure!

Aquatic Fitness Challenge - Intermediate / Advanced

This cardio-strengthening class is designed for students who want to experience a higher intensity, more challenging level of water exercise. A typical class session might include interval, plyometric, and resistance training in addition to more familiar water moves. The class focus is on increasing participants’ strength and stamina while still enjoying all the benefits of a water workout. Each class session incorporates both shallow and deep water exercises. Wearing water shoes is recommended. 

Paddleboard Yoga - Summer Only

Would you like to spend three sunset evenings learning paddleboard yoga? Paddleboard yoga is fun and uses your core to move through yoga poses on a stand-up paddleboard! All levels are welcomed and modifications are available so anyone can participate. Poses include: seated, hands and knees, kneeling, standing, and balancing. You will progress through poses at your own pace. And…. if you have a bucket list to do inversion poses, you will learn to do those too! Have no fear, we will provide basic instruction on how to balance, get on and off the board and keep yourself safe.

Level one class for those ages 2 – 3

 

Introduction to water skills in a slow, comfortable, fun environment for a student who is uncomfortable in the water. A caregiver must be prepared to get wet with the child for every class in the event the child needs additional assistance.

Level 1b

Level 1b: Introduction to Water Skills

Helps students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. This is the basic beginner level for those that are ages 4 and up. Instructors utilize flotation aides to allow the child to develop better swimming habits.

Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills

Gives students success with fundamental skills and learn to float without support. Learn basic self-help rescue skills.


Prerequisites: The student must be able to do 3 bobs in a row, with their whole head submerged for 3 seconds. The student must be able to do a front and back float, without support, for 5 seconds. Student should be able to swim 5 feet on front and back with no flotation. Ages 3 and over.

Level 2.5

Level 2.5: Building Aquatic Skills

Gives continued support of basic swim and floating skills while increasing endurance for greater swim distances.


Prerequisites: The student must be able to float unsupported on their front and back for 5 seconds. The student must be able to demonstrate swimming on their front and back with any combination of arms, legs, and breathing, without support, for 15 ft. The student must be able to tread water, with support, for 15 seconds. Ages 3 and over.

Level 3

Level 3: Stroke Development

Builds on the skills in Level 2.5 by providing additional guided practice. Students learn to coordinate front and back crawl. Introduce elementary backstroke and the fundamentals of treading water.

 

Prerequisites: The student must be able to swim on their front and back, with any combination of arms, legs, and breathing, without support, for 25 ft. The student must be able to tread water for 15 seconds. Ages 3 and over. Goggles recommended.

Stroke Improvement: develops confidence in the strokes learned and to improve other aquatic skills. Introduces breaststroke, sidestroke and wall turns.
Pre-Requisite: The student must be able to swim front crawl with rotary breathing and elementary backstroke for 15 yards per stroke to the level 3 standard. The student must be able to tread water for 30 seconds. Ages 6 and over. Goggles recommended.

Level 5

Stroke Refinement: provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. Introduce the butterfly, open turns, feet-first surface dives. Increase swim distances.
Pre-Requisite: The student must be able to swim front crawl and elementary backstroke for 25 yards per stroke to the level 4 standards as well as the breaststroke and back crawl for 15 yards per stroke also to the level 4 standards. The student must be able to tread water for 2 minutes. Ages 6 and over. Goggles recommended.
