Important Course Info
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses offered at Worthington Pools are offered in a blended learning format in which participants complete some coursework online and other coursework in person. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate for Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer with First Aid will be issued and valid for two years.

The American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid courses offered at Worthington Pools are offered in an instructor-led learning format, in which all coursework is done in-person during class. No online work is required. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate for Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED will be issued and valid for two years.
Tuition Reimbursement

Prerequisites for the Lifeguarding Course
1. Complete a swim/tread/swim sequence. Participants must swim 150-yards either freestyle or breaststroke demonstrating good swimming skills, tread water for two minutes without the use of the hands, and swim 50-yards either freestyle or breaststroke to conclude the swim. Goggles are allowed for this event.
2. Complete a Timed Event. Participants will swim 20-yards, submerge 12 feet and retrieve a 10-pound object. Upon surfacing, the participant will swim on their back to the starting point. Goggles are not allowed for this event and the event must be completed in 1 minute and 40 seconds.
3. Participants must be 15-years-old by the last day of the course. Proof of age will be required on the first day of the class. If a birth certificate is used as proof of age, an ID with a photo will also be required.
4. Completion of the online course prior to the first day of in-person training. Proof of completion will be required on the first day of class.

*Five participants are required for each in-person lifeguarding class. Without this minimum, students will be refunded and prioritized for the next class.
