Independence Triathlon

Worthington Pools will host a family friendly multisport event featuring a sprint distance triathlon & duathlon for the adults and a kid friendly distance triathlon for kids 15 & under. This event is a perfect fit for someone giving triathlon a “tri” for the very first time or the veteran triathlete looking for a short and fast mid-season race. The race has three categories of competition; youth, adult women & adult men. The women’s triathlon and duathlon events get things started at 7:00am closely followed by the men’s events at 7:30am. The adult swim begins with a 400 yard serpentine* pool swim in the “50 yard” outdoor pool or a 5k run (duathlon), followed by a 2-lap 10 mile bike through the streets of Worthington and the Olentangy Trail, then closing with a 5k run in the surrounding Worthington neighborhood. The youth triathlon events begin at 10am for youth 11-15 years and older and at 10:45am for youth ages 10 & under. *Down the lane, under the lane rope and back x 6 lanes.

Course Descriptions & Maps

Kids 11-15 years and under start racing at 10:00am and kids 10 & under start at 10:45. Children racing must be able to swim the course without a life jacket and ride the bike course on a bike without training wheels. Parents/siblings/friends are not allowed to swim/ride/run alongside the kids during the race at any time. The kids swim course will utilize the indoor pool for their races.

REGISTRATION NOTES
  • Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Fees listed above do not include the online Tri Registration processing fee.
  • There is NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.
  • USA Triathlon Rule 3.2a. All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31 of the year of the event.
  • If using a discount or sale code, only one code can be used per transaction.
RACE PACKETS

Official Race T-shirt (if registered at least 20 days prior to event date), Goodie Bag, Post Race Food & Beverages, and ALL finishers will receive a handsome Finishers Medal (including all relay team members).

 * Prices above reflect cost for USAT Annual Members and all participants MUST have a valid USAT license (annual or one-day).
If you are not a USAT member, you may purchase a one-day membership for the event at $15 when registering. Youth 17 & under may purchase an annual membership for $10.
